What is going on? Why is a gorilla driving around
New Canaan on a scooter?
I am just driving around in hopes of spreading some laughter
and cheer during the 2020 pandemic. During
this unprecedented time, we are all trying not to GO BANANAS!

What? I still don’t understand. How did this
start?
It started just having some fun with a few friends. The costume
was already in the attic and had been there for an exceptionally long time. It
looked a little scary, so the hat and tie were added (also in attic storage) to
brighten it up. Before I knew it, I was being asked to drive by this bananas
house and that bananas house and it just grew.
Who are you?
I live in New Canaan! When things return to normal, I will
reveal who I am. A few locals know but they have promised to keep it quiet.
Let’s just have fun and keep the surprise going as long as we can. Honestly, it
gives bananas something fun to talk about besides, you know what!
Why don’t you speak?
See above.
Safety! Yours and Mine!
Photos from at least six feet away please!
I must
ask my biggest bananas to not let the medium and little bananas chase or follow
me on their bicycles PLEASE. Your safety, and mine, is my number one
priority! And, that goes for the big bananas too!
Photos from at least six feet away please!
Feel free to post anything you are comfortable sharing and please TAG me on Instagram @newcanaangorilla. If you MENTION me @newcanaangorilla, I will see it but it will not show up in my TAGGED photos on Instagram. Instagram does not let me TAG myself.
Please note that these pages are OPEN to the PUBLIC. I will NEVER
post a picture of a child’s face and will also try not to post any adults
either. If you post, that is your choice.
If you have TAGGED me or mentioned me (and there are no other
faces visible), I hope you do not mind that I may “doctor” that picture or
video and share it again.

Requests:
During
this time of physical distancing, I do NOT want to encourage folks to gather. That
said,
Street
address requests (birthdays and other): I would be happy to come by, beep and wave
if I can. Send me a note to let me know the time and the location. I will try hard to make it but please
consider not telling little bananas in case we have bad weather or for some
unknown reason I cannot make it.
If the
weather is good, I will try to be out for at least an hour each day. Typically,
I will be out on WEEKDAYS after 2pm and weekends could be anytime. I will
always do at least one drive through the downtown village. I am doing my best
to scooter my way around the town with waves and little beeps to all (except
the dogs and people pushing strollers—I try not to beep when I pass so I do not
scare them).
How do I contact you?
Through Instagram message or Facebook messenger.
Will you come to other local towns?
No, I’m sorry not at this time. However, if you really want to
see me, send me a message. We can try to work out a time when you can be local in
the town of New Canaan Downtown Village and I will pass through.
Why do you call everyone banana?
Because the color yellow is a happy color and bananas make Gorillas
happy! Also, I have so many new banana
friends I could never remember all their names.
Charity and local organizations
I am not advertising anything and I am not selling anything. I will continue to reference three local organizations
at this time. These bananas encompass all of us in New Canaan:
Thank YOU Banana!
Seeing your smiles and hearing your laughter fills my heart with
joy! Thank you for keeping me from GOING BANANAS!
